TUNE IN SATURDAY @ 5:00PM (Pacific Standard Time)!

Listen online at:  www.latalkradio.com; or through a Blackberry or iPhone (go to www.flycast.fm from your device).  Information on “The London Garcia Show” can be found at:  http://www.latalkradio.com/London.php  (or on the bathroom wall of a local seedy bar)

First, we have PROMISES PROMISES gracing our presence!

From Nevada, they prove that there’s alot more that make the desert a hot place!

Promises Promises is Rock/Pop band consisting of Jared Mort (Vocals/Keys), Tayler Wooten (guitar), Jameson Broder (Bass), Pierre Marche (Drums/Percussion).  Long time friends and die hard musicians formed its final lineup in early 2009.

With their diverse sound and electric live set they were quickly opening up for national acts such as The New Amsterdams, Say Anything, Finch, The Higher and many more. Believing that a powerful live show and solid performance are the basis of any band they are constantly at work writing fresh, new songs for their fans and rehearsing endlessly.

After recording their self titled 4 song EP with producer Mark Kiczula (Dashboard Confessional, Linkin Park Feat. Jay Z, Good Charlotte, Scary Kids Scaring Kids) in 2008 their single “Crybaby” was quickly added in to rotation on Reno rock station 100.9 KRZQ as well as being featured on XM radio’s XMU and college stations nationwide.  Paired with the bands hard work and promotion, their fan base and international interest is growing quickly.

Also on the show Saturday, you’ll be one of the first to hear about:

WHITE KING RISING

This SO rocks!  This is the long awaited sequel to:

by:

LEE KESSLER

30 year veteran actress, author, playwright.

Just a few months ago, Lee was interviewed on FOX & Friends by Gretchen Carlson.  If you’re not already familiar with “White King and the Doctor”, Gretchen introduced Lee and the book with:  Did you ever wonder what it’s like to see the war on terror through the eyes of one of Al Qaeda’s masterminds?  The novel, ‘White King and the Doctor’ takes us inside the mind of Bin Laden’s number two man, Ayman Al-Zawahiri.”

During that interview, Lee Kessler was joined by retired Army Major General Paul Vallely, who is also the chairman of the ‘Stand Up America’  project and one of Lee’s #1 supporters.

WHAT a writer!  You will be absolutely addicted from the first chapter!!

Along for the ride (I’m sure he loves that I’m saying that!) is another one of my favorite past guests (because Lee certainly is a ‘London Garcia’ favorite!):

MICHAEL FAIRMAN

Michael Fairman has an mega-exciting project in development with Lee.

Are you saying to yourself, “Good golly Miss Molly…I’ve seen that guy EVERYWHERE.”   Uh…..it’s because you have.  His resume is just outta control!  Along with well over 100 credits, Michael can be seen as one of the stars of “Crash”, the series on Starz  (I didn’t even plan on it sounding as cool as it does..wow…what a bonus…I’m kinda cool…sort of).

And he’s also back on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, playing some evil dude character or something…again probably.  He does that alot.  He’s so sweet in real life that it really screws with my brain.

You can listen to the show online at:  www.latalkradio.com - information on “The London Garcia Show”, including archives of past shows (we like to call them “instant party on the air - just add water.”) can be found at:  http://www.latalkradio.com/London.php

Do I love my own show?  Duhhh!!!  Of course!!  You’ve seen the people that come by!

* THE DAMN AUTOMATICS *

Hailing from Orange County, California, The Damn Automatics have been described as a combination between Green Day, Foo Fighters and Cheap Trick on steroids.  The band consists of:

  • Singer/guitarist - Jeff Wright (SUPER, SUPER COOL DUDE THAT LOOKS AMAZING)
  • Lead guitarist - Jason Weeks (AMAZINGLY SUPER SEXY)
  • Bassist - Nate Large (SUPER, SUPER SEXY)
  • Drummer - Gavin Miller (sorta sexy…) (hey, not my words…..this came from ’inside sources’) (oh, another thing…..who the hell are ‘inside sources’???)

A previously self-produced eight song EP titled “Rock and Roll Retribution” mixed by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen Visions) sold over 3,000 copies via iTunes, live shows, and the Tower Records retail chain before their closure. Orange County Register voted Rock and Roll Retribution “Top Ten Best of the Best…”  and Los Angeles radio station Indie 103.1 FM put the track “Kill Your Radio” into rotation immediately. The Damn Automatics have recently finished recording tracks with producers Mark Kiczula (Dashboard Confessional, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park feat. Jay Z, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Bon Jovi, Creed, N’ Sync) and Rob Brill (The Strokes, Taking Back Sunday, Shinedown, The Bled). The 6 Song EP was mastered by Dave Collins at Dave Collins Mastering. A combination of polished live performances, relentless promotion and endless touring not only continues to win new fans for the band but has triggered an eruption of interest from major and independent record label executives.

“The intention was to create smartly crafted songs that always aim for a contagious melody and give true emotion. This is a product of all band dynamics:  fighting, drinking, eating, smoking and sleeping until a universal goal was achieved: unity.”    -Jason Weeks (the AMAZINGLY SUPER SEXY one - I guess he would be the expert then…)

CHECK THIS OUT:   Bands everywhere are following a certain formula, doing certain things because they all believe they just have to…to become more and more successful.  The Damn Automatics DON’T do ANY of them.  And they are actually rising quicker than most.  SO WHAT IS IT?  TUNE IN SATURDAY!

AND…we’re chattin’ with Brianna.

In the studio this Saturday is BIG RED ROOSTER - Saturday @ 5:00pm (PST) - TO LISTEN, GO TO WWW.LATALKRADIO.COM - you can listen online, through an iPhone, a Blackberry, or wi-fi radio.

***BIG RED ROOSTER IS IN THE L.A. AREA FOR A LIMITED TIME — KEEP READING….WE’LL DIRECT YA TO THEIR SHOWS!***

Who is THE BIG RED ROOSTER?  You could ask Play n Skillz, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Gym Class Heroes, Slim Thug, Ying Yang Twins, Nina Sky, and Biz Markie.  They’ve shared the stage with BIG RED ROOSTER at one time or another.  Having wrapped up a successful production deal with Grammy-winning duo Play n Skillz, BIG RED ROOSTER was also afforded opportunities to record with Slim Thug, E40, and Talib Kweli.

Looking back at artists who have shaped the face of popular music over the years, each possessed an originality that could be embraced by listeners irrespective of the style.  The Big Red Rooster follows in this path with a mission of fusing it’s members’ creative visions into a unique blend of undeniably appealing music.

With 2008 having come and gone, the party is just getting started for BIG RED ROOSTER. This fiery 6-piece is hungrier than ever before to continue rocking stages far and wide without limiting their creative envelope. They continually focus on fusing ambitious threads of hip hop, rock, R&B, funk, and reggae jams underneath sick rhymes and soulful melodies that keep everyone coming back for more.

BIG RED ROOSTER’s uncanny ability to jump seamlessly from genre-to-genre begins with the crisp yet flashy rhythm section of Dustin Boersch and Phil Griffin. Ted Lauck intertwines tasteful riffs and screaming solos with DJ PAC’s electronic alchemy. Multi-Id asserts himself on the mic with tongue twisting prowess while R&B specialist J. Sabin provides soaring melodies that tie each member’s unique influences together. Whenever these driven artists take the stage, their bold-faced passion and relentless energy join forces to command the attention of anyone within earshot.

The relationship between these guys combined with their ability to create an unforgettable musical experience has enabled the “Rooster” to garner a loyal following throughout the South.

This Saturday:  OLIO

A film composer.  A DJ.  A director of music and arts.   From the OC, ChiTown and DC, they call themselves “three brothers from other mothers (and fathers)”.  Inspired by everything from Black Sabbath to Barry White, these guys stir up an eclectic blend of music from hip-hop to funk, soul to rock and a dash of pop and serve it up nice and hot!  Whether it’s songs about break-ups, make-outs, shake-ups or four letter words, Olio produces electrifying, positive music from their studio in Los Angeles, CA. On stage Arif sings and breaks strings (sometimes his right hand gets heavy), DeHaven grooves on drums and croons (when the lights are low and the mood is right), and Matt plays bass so wickedly even his ex-girlfriend still gets jealous (he’s also been known to throw out zingers in between songs trying out new material for his secret life in stand-up comedy) (comment by London:  uhhh…..I’ll be the judge on the stand-up comedy, thank you…mwa-ha-ha…)

They are certainly serving up their album, “Living The Dream” nice and hot lately.  The songs range from the nylon stringed sweetness of “Completely Beautiful” about the profound impact of becoming a parent (received an Honorable Mention Award in the 2008 West Coast Songwriters International Competition) to a hard rock/rap collab that already has 20,000 NJ Devils fans shouting “Here We Go” at the Prudential Center.  Their homage to the mamacita de futbol aka “Soccer Mom” inspired one impassioned UK critic to call them “sexist and subtle as a sledgehammer.” (Olio still thinks Benny Hill, John Cleese and Ricky Gervais are funny) The sound created is rich and packs a punch reminiscent of the John Mayer Trio while thematically aiming for Stevie Wonder’s “Songs in the Key of Life.”  (another comment by London:  I think Ricky Gervais rules!  Kinda fly for a white guy.  OK, well he’s just really funny.)

Tours are scheduled throughout the West and into the Rockies and plans to include the East. To experience Olio only on recording is like Vader without the Darth (AND…another comment by London:  SO true!  It was when I saw them “live” that I had to have them on the show!).   Whether it’s 30 minutes or 3 hours, the energy generated by these three could power a small town (or even the lesser known planet Zeta-Reticulan5) (AND…..last comment by London:  What the hell?!?!).   So, maybe the question isn’t Who or What is Olio but rather When and Where?

Well…..we hope that the next “where” is on stage with John Mayer for the “Mayercraft Carrier 2″ show.  Listen Saturday and find out how YOU can help them get there!

Excerpt from a recent review:

“I’ll be honest and say that comparisons to Queen will be in order on several tracks. The musical construction has a quasi-symphonic construction that is similar in style to bands like Queen, Yes, Styx, etc…”

“Olio isn’t simply a sign of the revival of the classic rock sound; they’ve actually managed to create a classic sound that is new without stepping into the land of cliché. This is music with incredible commercial potential. It’s fun to listen to; it’s articulate, and it’s musically complex and rewarding. Living The Dream is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and shows incredible promise.”

– Wildy Haskell
(given a rating of 5 Stars out of 5 possible)
