WHO IS LOKIXXIMO?

The name of the group “Lokixximo” (which means “Craziest”) applies to everything they do in everyday life.  Argenis and his partner, Jose Josexx, founded the group in 2005.  And since then, it’s been a fast rise of incredible success for them in the Latin Music industry.

Lokixximo is New York’s next  and their street buzz is immaculate with a tremendous following from the beginning.  At this time, Lokixximo is getting prepared to shock the industry with their freshman album,  “Los Locos Tambien Comen”.

Their first music video, “El Perro”, went in rotation on LATV in California in 2006 and many other television shows around the globe.  The video was also selected by Verizon Wireless V Cast who named Lokixximo as the face of a new generation in Latin Urban Music.   Lokixximo has continued to drop club bangers that have reached latin charts in many radio stations in South America and in the caribbean, the same places where they have performed and still have fans waiting for the next tour.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Lokixximo’s music was featured in “Reggaeton Nacion” compilation in 2005, the album reached gold in two weeks.
  • DTM Magazine’s feature “Down With the King”.
  • Lokixximo’s song “Que Vaz hacer” was featured in the Megaton CD in 2006 - reached the Latin billboard charts.
  • Music Powers Magazine - “Lokixximo taking the industry by storm”
  • Burger King “Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica”, “hottest New York talent”
  • MTV “Road to Menudo” licensed 9 Lokixximo tracks
  • Telemundo 47 “The hottest unsigned duo in New York”

New York is the city where so many musicians are working day & night to get recognized.  The truth is..only the ones who stay on grind and take their career seriously get noticed.  The last three years Lokixximo has been the face of Latin Urban music in New York, the orchestrators of this era growing influential, latin hip-hop & reggaeton sound.  Their collaborations from Sly Kat, Platano & T Weaponz & Productions by Add On Music & Cool & Dre cemented them among the most in-demand unsigned artists in the Latin industry. They are setting the standard for upcoming artists and inspiring many to be more creative in live performances and music.

It is rare that underground reggaeton artists get the attention of the pages and airwaves of all the big media outlets. The opportunity only comes when the artists gets steady radio rotation or mainstream hit status. New York reggaeton duo, Lokixximo, is the exception to the rule.

As they shared with me, “”We do our music from the heart.  Some latin artists have not served the latin scene well.  We are bringing a message.  It’s time to bring back the essence.”

WHO IS GARY WRIGHT?

To most of the world…silly question I know.  Sunday, I get to go one-on-one with a music icon and we all get to learn more about the person who is the legend “Gary Wright“.

JUST A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Collaborated with David Crosby, Joe Cocker & Steve Winwood, Mick Jones and the late George Harrison among many others
  •

    • Covered by Eminem, Anastacia, Joan Osborne and Judas Priest (Spooky Tooth’s Better By You, Better Than Me)
    • Sampled by Salt N Pepa, Tone-Loc, Busta Rhymes, & Mya
    • Remixed by Armand Van Helden
    • Championed by Wayne’s World
    • Toured with Jimi Hendrix; tours with Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band

  • Will play the celebration concert of the 50th Anniversary of Island Records as a re-formed Spooky Tooth in London in May (2009)  along with U2 and The Wailers
  •

GARY WRIGHT has rocked the entire world over and over for over 40 years.  And he’s doing it AGAIN with two new digital albums.

Visionary songwriter and performer Gary Wright enters his fourth decade of musical pioneering with two new releases – the ambient music collection Waiting to Catch the Light, and an EP called The Light of a Million Suns which, with multidimensional experiences in instrumentation and production, recall his enduring 1975 hits “Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive”.

Always pushing boundaries and exploring new soundscapes, Gary recorded Waiting to Catch the Light using rare vintage analog synthesizers in his desire to create the warm textures for the listener.  “I wanted to record an album that would induce an experience of calmness and get people into a meditative state,”  said Gary, whose dedication to spiritual creativity began in the ‘70s when he first visited India with George Harrison as a guest of Ravi Shankar. He ventured into world music in the ‘80s with his award-winning album Who I Am which featured south Indian musicians, and again in the ‘90s with the release Human Love.  Waiting follows the Eastern path of using resonating sound to produce calming effects in the mind and body, an important part of all paths of yoga as well as everyday living.

New ringtones have just been released as well, including an exclusive of the intro to “Dream Weaver,” never before available, accessible by texting DREAMWEAVERINTRO to 71777.  Other ringtones are available on his MySpace web page.

Gary is the CEO of Larkio Music, which releases his music as well as that of Intangible, a rock group based out of Los Angeles featuring his son, Justin.  Larkio Music is distributed by ADA.

    WHO IS JAYLYN DUCATI?

“The Next Britney” says Larry Rudolph, who also manages Britney Spears herself, working with her on the “Circus” album and current tour.  Jaylyn is currently working with Britney Spear’s producers (from the “Circus” album) on new songs and you’ll get to hear ”Hard 2 Breathe” on Saturday’s show, one of her current hit songs that they also produced.  (GREAT song)

Jaylyn Ducati might also be familiar to you as she was a part of London Garcia’s MUSIC BOXX last year.  “Play The Wall”, one of her songs we aired, is still one of my FAV’s.  I was very excited for her to hear that she’s making even more leaps and bounds in her career.  She has been working on her music since she TEN years old!  Yikes!  (Let’s see…..ten years old…..what was I doing?  Uhh….getting kicked out the girl scouts…..launching my “I’ll write you a parent’s note to get you out of class for a small fee” side business.  Scary……BUT TRUE.)

Jaylyn will be catching us up on the latest in her world, including hanging out with Perez Hilton at his birthday party last weekend in Atlantic City.  (Not gonna lie……I’m only interested in the dirt.)

    WHO IS DIG JELLY?

L.A. based Dig Jelly is a high-energy modern rock band unlike anyone - versatile yet grounded in it’s signature sound.

Dig Jelly has done National Tours opening for Veruca Salt, and The Lovemakers of Interscope.  Show after show has proven to be a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Rayko (vocals):   Has formed a very strong fan base throughout California and Japan and has had a number of players involved in her CD’s:  Toshi Yanagi (Jimmy Kimmel show), Mark Browne (Paula Cole, Taylor Dayne), Pete Maloney (Dishwalla), Matt Hockings (Edgar Winter), and Dorian Crozier (Rembrants).  Tracks such as “Jaded”, “Broken Trust”, and “In Your House” were featured on MTV’s “Undressed”, “Surf Girls” and verious X-treme sports DVDs , and films such as “Yellow Girls” and “St. Andrew’s Girls”.

Robby Lochner (guitars):   After playing for the nationally syndicated radio station band “Z/Rock Killing Crew”, Robby played guitar for Rob Halford (Judas Priest) on the “War of Words Tour” for his band “Fight”.  Robby has worked with three #1 hit songwriters - Curt Cuomo (Kiss, Eddie Money), Jake Hooker (Joan Jett) and Eddie Money.  He has also played with Spencer Davis, Carmine Appice, and Alex Ligertwood (Carlos Santana).  He released two solo CDs that featured musicians such as Barry Sparks (Ted Nugent, Yngwie Malmsteen, UFO), Neil Turbin (Anthrax), Gunter Fliszar (Bruce Dickensen, Decca Tree) and Javy Bojorquez (Joan Sebastian).

Dig Jelly is also supported by a strong rhythm section created by Rain Balen (Bass) and Joey Felix (Drums).

I first saw Dig Jelly perform about 9 years ago when they were “Rayko” and after seeing Rayko go buck wild all over the stage, I kept thinking, “When I grow up, I wanna learn how to do THAT!”  It was pretty damn entertaining.

We’ll be talking about their upcoming tour for their new CD release, which starts with their show at The Galary Concert Theatre in Santa Ana on Saturday, May 23rd, not to mention what’s happening with them and MySpace Records.

Hey, you know the deal…..tune in for more.

    WHO IS AGUA TRIP?

Agua Trip began in the Autumn of 2000, when Bill and Lindsey met at a Party for French majors from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. After a few months of jamming together, Bill and Lindsey recorded 17 songs, thus creating their first collection of recorded demos entitled Baseado. This tongue–in–cheek, impromptu production — recorded in 5 weekends — was the eye–opening experience that led to the formation of the band Agua Trip.

By the end of 2001, the band was up and running. Bill and Lindsey chose the name “Agua Trip” because it captured the spirit of their genre–defying music:  a voyage of constant change, music that changes and moves like water — with hints of multiculturalism  (thus the bilingual title).

They began playing parties and cafes in the greater Nashville area. By the summer of 2002, they decided to move to New York, where they joined forces with New York musicians and played an extensive list of venues. It wasn’t long before they acquired a diverse following.

In addition to traditional music venues, Agua Trip’s appearances include annual benefits such as “STOMP – Equity against AIDS” in 2003 and 2004, and modern dance fundraisers for Joyce SOHO and Isabel Gotskowsky and Friends in 2005, 2006, and 2007. More recently, Agua Trip has teamed up with CONNECT a local NYC–based non–profit organization dedicated to the prevention and elimination of family and gender violence. They have also performed at Barnard College/Columbia University on multiple occasions and a variety of social events. Agua Trip has also been a mainstay at PANGEA Restaurant where they performed regularly since 2005.

From the very beginning, Agua Trip has welcomed a wide array of genres into their repertoire, from Beatle–ish pop and Marley–esque reggae to Mexican corridos and Quebecois folksongs. They have created their own genre: an alternative, world–influenced pot–pourri that cannot be compared to one single artist, but rather to a combination of artists.

Agua Trip is more than a band – it is a creative project that invites collaboration. Bill and Lindsey, as the stable core of the group, are always inviting other artists to perform with them live or on record. They have enjoyed making music with a long list of artists including James Guastaferro, Jacob Gossett, Dan Weiner, Mark Katsaounis, Morgan Henderson, Russell de Moose, Andrew Cooper, Aaron Coleman, Roberto Carrasco, Chris Johnson, Ginger Burden Boise, Kyla Barkin, Tanya Barach, Roxane Carrasco, and many more.

Perhaps owing to its rhythmic–yet–fluid quality, their music has been well received in the modern dance community and has been used for dance instruction and choreography. As musical artists, they are always in search of new collaborations with other artists and media (film, dance, theater, comedy, visual arts, and whatever new media arise).

Bill and Lindsey are also co–creators of The Moveable Feast, “a pARTy on the move”  which showcases a select mixture of artists including dancers, painters, sculptors, comedians, musicians, poets, writers, and more. The Moveable Feast has met with very enthusiastic praise from both the participating artists and the guests, who comment on its warm, inclusive and inviting vibe as well as its wide range of artistic genre and talent.

Bill Carrasco is a songwriter and a self–taught musician (guitar, piano, saxophone). While living in Toulouse, France in 1998, he formed his first band called Comfort Zone, a French–Brazilian–Mexican–American band. He plays the guitar left–handed and upside down, which never ceases to confuse observers. Incidentally, he has a Ph.D. in Semiotics and Folklore and an M.A. in Latin American Literature.

Born and raised in a family of musicians, Lindsey Boise learned to play the trombone, the guitar, the bass, the mandolin, and just about everything else from Tennessee to Quebec. He was part of the Ska–punk scene in Nashville, playing with The Digits and Supersloth. He spent many hours watching his father work in the family recording studio, hoping he would learn something, and has helped produce and engineer several side projects. He has a B.A. in French and German, and an affinity to ancient tongues.

    WHO IS EILEEN CAREY?

Fresh off the bus in Nashville, Tennessee but definitely not wet behind the ears, Cleveland, Ohio native, sing/songwriter Eileen Carey has been around the music scene for years.  Influenced by all the Motown greats and artists like Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, The Beatles and writer Diane Warren, Eileen shows tribute, but unlike so many others, doesn’t mimic what she heard as a child but integrates it and adds her own spin.

In Los Angeles, Eileen found acceptance and success in the regional music scene. It seemed that all she had to do was open her mouth and who ever was there, even if they came to see someone else, became an instant fan.  Eileen Carey, a new kind of artist has a great contemporary country feel that, in our hearts, we are all seeking. In an age where mastering of machinery instead of instruments is hailed, where sampling of the old instead of creating the new is rewarded, and where, “that’s ok, we’ll just fix it in the mix” is more frequent than a one-take-wonder, Eileen Carey breaks the mold of what some call progressive and others call a throw back. She has the pitch to carry a show without anything but a mic, she has the skill to create new and passionate music with only the influence of the music we all remember and she can play her own drums, if she wants to without a click track or an electrical outlet.

    Familiar to ya?  Could be…

Eileen was also one of the original uh-huh girls that backed Ray Charles in a Pepsi campaign and at the Super Bowl.

Her favorite part of her career in music is, “Putting a smile on someone’s face. When I see that, I know I have done my job.”  –Eileen Carey

Eileen is currently nominated in 4 categories in the upcoming 2009 South Bay Music Awards:

    • “Songwriter of the Year”
    • “Female Vocalist of the Year”
    • “Country Artist of the Year”
    • “Best Song of the Year”

We’ll be chattin about her new CD, “Movin On” and what she’s learned from being a part of country music and today’s music scene in general.
