There is a time for everything…

…a time to tear down and a time to build,

…a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak…

…a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace…

Alan B. Katz, attorney/author from New York, has been pursuing a time for truth.

“Yes, it is very likely that Israel will suffer civilian casualties, but if Mugniyah had been killed thirty years ago, there are hundreds of U.S. Marines and scores of civilians who would likely be alive today.  The terrorists have made this a fight to the death.  We have not been given a choice and must, therefore, make the preservation of our lives paramount.”   (Alan B. Katz, letter to the editor of the New York Times)

“If you don’t read the newspapers, you are uninformed.  If you do read the newspapers, you are misinformed.”   (Mark Twain, great American writer and chronicler of human frailties)

“It is important to note that when Palestinians kill Jews, President Abbas condemns the murders only because it does not advance the Palestinian cause.  Not, mind you, because murder is wrong; only that it hurts their image and public relations program.”   (Alan B. Katz)

“A doctor who survived, from a religious background, who sailed to Israel with us in June 1946, told us, ‘We didn’t see God when we expected him, so we have no choice but to do what he was supposed to do:  We will protect the weak, we will love, we will comfort.  From now on, the responsibility is all ours.”   (Holocaust survivor)

“What is happening in Israel, Gaza and Judea and Samaria is gut-wrenching.  And there is no end in sight.  But, before we can solve issues, it is necessary to have an accurate and clear command of the facts.”   (Alan B. Katz)

2009 is almost over.  2010 is around the corner.  What time is it now?

I think it’s time to use our voices, use our gifts, and use them well.

THIS SUNDAY’S SHOW:

FIRST-TIME AUTHOR, SHELI JONES

–and–

FEATURING THE MUSIC OF NASHVILLE-BASED (BY WAY OF CANADA) SINGER/MUSICIAN, MAGGIE SZABO (also featured on London Garcia’s MUSIC BOXX)

___________________________________________________

“Parenting is the hardest job in the world and anyone that says it isn’t must be from another planet.  Do you feel like you are going ten different directions and you could be doing a better job?  Are you struggling with parenting issues and feel you are the only one going through it?  Are you having a hard time staying on the same page with your spouse?  How do you follow through with rules and consequences, stay consistent, be fair, and teach your kids what they need to know?  How do you accomplish keeping your family close?”

–Sheli L. Jones, author of “Super Mom, NOT!”

This coming from a regular gal who was pregnant at nineteen, married, pregnant again, divorced, and then married a man with two kids and…..pregnant again eight weeks later.  5 kids by the age of 23.  I think alot of people think it’s easier to let things fall apart and chalk it up to statistics.  But for Sheli, Jeff, and their children, things took a much different direction.  Nearly 20 years later, there are 5 adults who could speak to the commitment and dedication of 2 people that raised them.

I don’t have personal experience in either of these things, but I know what it looks like to be a married couple doing WHATEVER it takes to make a marriage work and being 100% responsible for raising your children because my parents were both of these (WERE because Dad is no longer with us).

One of the things I love about this book is the lost art of parents owning personal responsibility in raising their children and owning personal responsibility in how the marriage goes.  I see too many parents rely on an educational system, among other things, to raise their kids.  It’s not a coincidence that so many kids now ’supposedly’ require all this therapy and meds (Oh yes, I went there!!).

Sheli does a great job in sharing her life’s journey in a way that I think any family can relate to and can certainly take some great ideas from her book.  I just love it when I come across people who embrace the reality of their life and it’s situations and then take those things to help others do better and be better.
