About London

London started in the entertainment industry as a full-figured model, a far cry from the world of radio, however she heard about this modeling contest ON the radio.  Sounded like a small deal so she figured she’d give it a shot.  Well, she showed up…..along with 2,000+ other women.  After all the cuts, she was surprised to discover that she made it to the top 15.  After a brief stint in modeling, she pursued other areas of entertainment.  While busy writing and performing stand-up comedy, London was picked up for a sketch comedy group called “P.O. Box L.A. Comedy Co.”, which had a style similar to “Saturday Night Live” and “In Living Color”.  She continued performing stand-up in many venues such as The Comedy Story and The Laugh Factory as well as some smaller, local venues.  She took advice from great comics and did what they said: “Perform anywhere and everywhere and get really, really good.”

Through P.O. Box L.A. Comedy Co., London met Emilio Rivera, still a great friend and performed as a stand-up comic and singer in a traveling variety show he later produced, “Latino Nights”.  Also featured in ”Latino Nights” was Mando Cosio, Gilbert Esquivel, Rudy Moreno, and a number of other comics, all who were just breaking out at the time and all who are well known and much loved by many. Through the years, London was featured in film and TV, recorded vocals for groups being sought after by record labels, and continued to make alot of friends along the way. And she did what she believed in and what her parents taught her:  be yourself, be honest always, be a great friend, be the one to take the initiative, and FOLLOW THROUGH.  And it’s always worked.

Around 1998, London stepped back from the industry and pursued corporate ventures, forming a few companies and successfully growing them.  In 2004, London realized she was way off track from her true desires.  She got involved in a few projects in film and in music.  Then a light bulb went off.  What was the thing that first got her into the business?  Ah!  Radio.  Shortly thereafter, London got the opportunity to produce a small radio show at a station in Orange County.  The show grew in popularity and in numbers, so she decided to move the show to a station in Hollywood, CA.  London is happy to make her home now at “L.A. Talk Radio”.

The London Garcia Show was born out of a dream of a quirky, nutty 5-year old girl who spent her tender years telling her friends, “Quiet on the set!”  With a lime green couch, and an unmatching quilt over it made by Grandma Iris, there was the start of the classiest talk show host in London’s elementary school.  A force to be reckoned with among kindergarten students everywhere and an intimidating presence on the playground.  The radio name, London Garcia, was inspired by London’s 2 grandmothers. One was from the U.K. and one was from Mexico.

Past and upcoming guests on the show have been local favorites and some are internationally known.  The list includes:

Minh Collins (producer/director of various cable specials and series), Bennett Davlin (producer of the motion picture “Memory” and other great feature films and projects), Mando Cosio (popular comic that travels with Gabriel Iglesias), Neverwonder (award-winning rock band featuring Megan Bobo, American Idol finalist), Lee Kessler (veteran actor and internationally-acclaimed author of “White King And The Doctor”) West8Five (very popular band from New York and “Movin’ 93.9″ favorite), Mel “Cheeez” Austin (popular Southern California comic), Dirty Deborah Harry (roller derby champ), Brik Wall (Dirty’s roller derby partner in crime), Sammie Roberts (jazz favorite), Sarah Blevins (popular Southern California comic and award-winning filmmaker), Travis Becktel (of the Colorado Rockies), WestSideStory (smokin hot alternative rock band), Araceli Gonzales (appointed official for Governor Schwarzenegger), Adrienne Frantz (soap star and rock music sensation), Larry Crane (international self-help legend who has been in talks with the producers of Oprah to appear on her show as his work relates to the movie and book, “The Secret”), Youssef Delara (writer/director/producer of the film “ESL”), Wilson Simmons III (motivational speaker and author), Michael Fairman (popular veteran actor of numerous TV shows), Rick Kelly (jazz legend and creator of “Soul Ballet”), Run Doris Run (favorite of “The Warped Tour”), Ignacio Serricchio (star of “General Hospital” and “The Ghost Whisperer” and uber-talented stand-up comic), and J*Smith (dance/pop star).  The list continually grows and always gets more interesting (check blog archives for information on past guests).
